Our Goal
We envision ourselves as leading the change towards a world where ethical brands that function to raise funds for non-profits are commonplace
How do we get there?
Purgace aims to revolutionize cause-commerce by popularizing “Purgace” as the go-to word for conscious, well-intentioned purchases. Our goal is to see the word “purgace” become so widely adopted that it earns its place in everyday conversations, Google searches, and ultimately, the Oxford Dictionary.
What’s Purgace?
We at Purgace understand the power of language and the need for words to convey meanings for effective communication. That being said, have you ever heard of petrichor? Yeah, neither had we. But it is just amazing how comprehensive the English language is – having a word for the pleasant smell associated with the first rain!! English not only borrows from other languages but from fiction as well – muggle courtesy J.K Rowling.
But oddly enough, we do not have a word to define the concept of a well intentioned purchase. We seek to introduce the concept and make it second nature. Purgace means to purchase with good intentions. Ta-daa!!
Why Purgace, you ask? The word is a modification of the word purchase on many fronts:
Purging the purchase
Religions often advocate cleansing or purging the soul, often through acts of charity (giving alms) or self-denial (fasting). Purgace incorporates this idea of cleansing our purchases by encouraging people to channel their spending towards causes that benefit those in greater need.
Eliminating the chase
Modern consumerism often revolves around the endless pursuit of pleasure—a “chase” that never fully satisfies. Purgace seeks to eliminate this chase by encouraging purchases that focus on fulfilling others’ needs, rather than feeding personal desires.
Acing the purchase
To “ace” something means to achieve excellence. In the context of purgace, it means mastering our purchasing habits—making choices that benefit not just ourselves, but society as a whole.
The Logo
Trust us when we say we’ve already heard it all when it comes to why this logo DOES NOT work. “It looks scary”, “it is comical”, “Looks like Bane from the batman trilogy”, so and so forth. But we stick to this because we are yet to come up with a better representation of “personification of peace”. Granted we just added eyes to the peace logo but hey, if it gets the message across…
Purgacers know very well that true peace comes with giving. The focus of Purgace is to bring peace to the world through giving and the logo aligns!
The Purgace Business Model and Guiding Principle
We do not believe that all businesses need to be profitable, and we refuse to be reduced to just a balance sheet. At Purgace, our profitability is influenced by many unpredictable variables—primarily the number of individuals joining as volunteers, organizations partnering with us, and people choosing ‘purgace’ over other non-profits when making a purchase.
We acknowledge that some may label us a failure in economic terms because we are willing to operate long term with manageable losses. But we do not see those expenses as losses; we see them as the cost of making our objective a reality. Our goal is not to maximize profit but to optimize the giving potential of our customers. If it takes a $100 loss to generate $1000 worth of donations to non-profits, then that is a “business” worth running. We aim to make such businesses commonplace. It’s a dream, but isn’t that how all movements begin?
Our business decisions will always be guided by this principle of ethically optimizing the giving potential of the money you spend on our platform.

How to join the movement?
We are glad you have made it so far! If you are in alignment with our mission and envision a world where ethical brands are the norm you would probably want to act as a positive catalyst in the movement. How you wish to do so is entirely up to your imagination. Unless you want to start a similar brand with similar values, we have a few suggestions below based on who you are. So if you are someone who…
...has time to volunteer:
As a primarily volunteer run organisation, we are constantly on the lookout for people with a good heart and intentions. Please reach out here if you would like to volunteer here with a brief description of yourself and how you think you would be able to add value. Not sure about the value part? Don’t worry, hit us up anyway because we are just starting off an do need support in a wide range of areas.
...wants to fundraise for or support a non-profit:
If you know of any non-profit that would like to sell custom merchandise and want a store specifically for that purpose, we do offer customised solutions. Please reach out here.
...can influence a business:
If your business can help reduce our operational expenses in any way, we could join hands. Please contact us with your proposal here.
...would prefer to support financially:
If you do have money to spare, we would recommend you help out the non-profits by donating directly to them. Do not buy from us for the sake of donating to non-profits. Donations are better utilised directly by non-profits. If you are someone who is anyway going to make a purchase, we offer you the option of spending on a better brand – the option to switch to purgacing.
Our Promises
Only new
Your order is custom made for you. We will not ship what another customer has returned. So we request our customers to please be mindful before placing orders and not wardROB us!
No seasonal discounts - Ever
Products are discounted to encourage buying. We encourage giving. We believe it should be a lifestyle. Not a seasonal habit.
Paid shipping
Yes, the old school trick of adding on the shipping costs to the product price has been adopted by us. So it may seem to be free – but don’t be fooled! 🙂
100% of proceeds to preferred cause
You decide where your money goes. We don’t make any profits on your purchases unless you choose to do so.
We strive for equity - The social one
We are working for the greater good defined by social equity. Without prioritizing financial equity, some may misunderstand us to be financially illiterate.
We strive to eliminate competition
We compete in giving. If any organization shares the same goals, why not just work together?
