Purgace 

What is Purgace?

Purgace means purchasing with good intentions. We often do buy with the best of intentions, but are unaware of what the companies do with the profits that are generated from our purchases. We at Purgace donate 100% of the proceeds generated from sales to the non-profit/charity of your choice. We aim to create a world wherein Purgace is not only common practice but just common sense.

What do you mean by “proceed generated by sales”? Why not just say profits?

Profits usually refer to the surplus generated to further the brand’s goals – of which increasing profits itself is often one of the primary goals. Our goal is not to maximize profits but to maximize impact of your spending. Whatever we can generate from the sale of a product, we will donate it. For example, if it costs us 20 dollars to manufacture and deliver a T-shirt to your address while we sell it for 30 dollars, the entire 10 dollars will be donated to the cause you selected.

But then how do you take care of operational costs?

Operational costs like website development, hosting, domain purchase, damages in transit, cost of providing customer support, returns etc. are all expenses we hope to cover by the sales of merchandise when you opt to fund us. Just as you may choose to support any registered non-profit/charity across North America, you may choose Purgace as the cause you support. We also keep our costs low by functioning as a 100% volunteer run organization – so please be kind to the support representatives if they fumble or make mistakes. And join us if you have time/skills to spare. We are ALWAYS on the look out for support. 

We are okay to run long term with manageable losses because we see loss as the cost of achieving our goal to #Popularizepurgacing. Read more about our business philosophy. 

What do you mean when you say we sell only new products?

Contrary to popular belief, what you may get when purchasing from any online store need not necessarily be a “new” product. This is because the returned and often worn/used merchandise is shipped back to the factory and is reshipped again to the next customer as “new”. Our offer is unique in that way. Your order is made uniquely for you. Nobody has tried it on before you. It is fresh out of the box. This is our attempt at honoring your order so please take utmost care of sizing guide when placing orders. This helps normalizing #Consciousconsumerism for which both the brand and the consumer need to work together and reduce wastage.

What do you do with the returned products?

We take utmost care to craft the products exactly as per the specifications mentioned on the siteBut if at all anything does not match up to what we promised, you are free to return it. We are willing to take the hit and hoping that the buyers opting to provide revenue to Purgace will offset the costs involved in returns. We are yet to decide on a viable plan for the optimal use of returned goods though. Contact us if you have a proposal. We are ALWAYS on the lookout for new ideas and collaborations. 

What do you intend to achieve out of all this?

One can call this madness, or a social experiment – the success of which relies heavily on the largesse of people like you. People who are willing to #Switchtopurgace from purchasing – starting with apparels. We hope to have conscientious brands who compete not to inflate their share prices but rather the amounts generated in charity. A world where brands no longer vie to to woo celebrity endorsements but instead act as a funnel to support non-profits/charities. Purgacers know that the trickle down effect is just too little and too late.

Purgacers are those who realize that chasing joy via purchases does not work and lasting joy comes from giving. We envision a world where all this is just simple common sense. A world where purgace replaces purchase in the common usage while purchase gets categorized as archaic. We hope that people will #Acethepurchase and #startpurgacing! Charity 

The charity I want to donate to is not listed. What do I do?

Please reach out to us from the Join us section and provide us as many details as you can regarding the charity/non-profit you wish to add to our list. We will verify the details and add them to our ever-growing list. Currently, we are supporting only US and Canadian non-profits but do reach out to us if you have proposals to spread to other countries as well. 

Why do you only support US and Canadian non-profits/charities?

We are only starting up and are yet to figure out a lot of details regarding tax implications for international donations from corporations. A lot of support is needed and if you are knowledgeable or running a firm that supports such businesses, please consider joining us as a partner and help in our mission to popularize cause commerce. 

What are the charges to get a/my charity enlisted with Purgace.

We do not charge the charities for collaboration and the services provided including the sale of official merchandise (to be launched soon) is 100% free. Please let us know if your non-profit/charity would like to have their own custom store and official merchandise. We will help you build it with your logo for free AND donate whatever revenue is generated back to you. We do not have a timeline for launch yet but we are working on it with volunteers and if you are willing to support with your skills/time in any way to make this ambitious project a reality, please consider joining us as a volunteer/partner.

How often do you pay the charities?

For sheer convenience, we disburse funds collected on a monthly/quarterly basis depending on the terms and conditions agreed upon with the charity. If you wish to have a different timeframe for disbursement for a charity you wish to enrol, please reach out to us here.

Returns

What is your return policy?

We take utmost care to ship the correct products, but in case there is any error from our volunteers in shipping the right item we are willing to take it back and provide you with a full refund. Please note that we expect our customers to be conscious of sizing guides and make a purchase strictly based on the guidelines provided. As of now, we do not intend to resell the returned products in order to provide our customers with products that are truly new and we would need your support to make this experiment a success by making conscious purchases – or simply put… by purgacing! 😉 

Within what timeframe do I have to return the item?

We expect you to check the items as soon as you receive them and get back to us within any issues within 5 days. However, we will always be available to address your queries and accept your grievances even beyond the 5 days period. We are only trying to limit the return period because, quite often the funds raised for the non-profit will have already been donated from our end basis the pre-decided agreement with the non-profits, so unlike other brands that delve into their profits to make up for the loss of returns or wardrobing practices, we are left with nothing from a particular purchase unless you opt to fund us with your purchase. 

Who pays for the return costs?

We hope to be able to cover the costs of returns but as of now, we are unable to make that commitment. We are willing to run this business at a loss even in the long term as stated here, but we may have to find a model that is sustainable as well. Hopefully, the losses incurred via the losses in returns can be recovered by the sales made from the customers who opt for funding Purgace with their purchases. If you have a viable plan or recommendation in a way that we can commit to paying the return fees, please let us know. We are continuously seeking ideas and inputs from people who believe in our cause. 

Volunteer/Intern 

I wish to help. How can I join with you?

We are constantly in need to volunteers who can spare time to bring this vision of a philanthropy based ecommerce site to fruition. However, we do not have a fixed job description ready. So fill up the join us form and think of the skills you possess. You may be able to guide us with tax advice, help with setting up Purgace in your country, add/verify charities from your country, help with social media marketing, design posters or tshirts.. The possibilities are endless and your imagination is the limit. Too lazy to fill up the form? No problem, tell your friends about Purgace! 😊 

Will I get a certificate upon completion of internship?

Purgace is a registered company in Wyoming, USA and yes you will receive a detailed certificate and letter of recommendation basis your performance. We do not offer paid internships at the moment and we are seeking individuals who are aligned with the cause we at Purgace are seeking to build. 

What is the duration of internship and what roles are you seeking?

There are no fixed timelines nor any job vacancy currently. So contact us and let us know how you wish to contribute to our vision to #switchtoPurgace and we will get back to you within 24-48 hours. 

Should I volunteer or intern with you?

That is totally up to you. As a guiding principle, ask yourself whether you are planning to utilise spare time to work on a cause you believe in or if you are willing to work on the cause you believe in to further your skills and enhance career prospects. Choose volunteering if the former suits you and internship if the latter.  

Partner 

Who are partners?

Partners are companies/corporates/businesses who are aligned with our vision and willing to collaborate with us by offering their services to help run Purgace. If your company has experience in any domain needed to run an online store and are willing to offer your services to us, you get a spot in our partners page along with the amount of money you have helped Purgace save.  

You already have a partner in my business domain. How can I join now that the service I can offer is already being provided?

Each company is unique, and so are their offerings. Fill up the form and reach out to us with how you wish to collaborate. And we will get back to you within 24-48 hours.  

Are partners on a payroll?

Partners are not paid. They are on board just because they are aligned with the vision of Purgace and want to help with whatever expertise they can offer – much like the volunteers/interns, just that this time it is a registered business.  

What sort of expertise are you looking for?

Much like any ecommerce store, we also require hosting, we development/design, content creators/social media managers, SEO, tax/legal advice, bookkeeping services, customer support, warehousing support for returned merchandise, better suppliers for raw materials etc. The possibilities are endless, and your imagination is the limit.
